Hi everyone, Nicola here!
Last night I attended a Dress For Success event at Government House, hosted by Governor General Dame Patsy Reddy.
Dress For Success is an organisation with a mission to empower women to achieve economic independence, by providing professional work clothing and development tools to help women thrive in work and life. I admire this organisation because it provides styling advice for broad range of occasions, from going to a house viewing, to job interviews, to black tie events. They aid people who can’t necessarily afford or have experience dressing for these occasions. Their purpose is to offer long-lasting solutions that enable women to break the cycle of poverty.
I loved seeing how the Dress For Success stylists put together looks for various occasions and how the volunteer models really owned every look they wore.
It was inspiring listening to the stories of Dress for Success clients talk about their journey and how the Dress for Success team helped them to achieve their goals. I was talking to Dame Patsy after the show about how amazing the organization is, and how I’d love to volunteer as stylist. She thought it was a fabulous idea and put me in touch with the right people, watch this space!
Zambesi showcased two outfits from S21. Firstly, Erana wore the Jockies and Virtue jacket in brown pinstripe teamed with the Kindred singlet and Chelsea boots. She absolutely rocked the look, strutting down the red carpet in ball room of Government house.
Next Sheeren wore a crowd favourite the Square Dance dress with Ponies and a Signature Bag with the fretwork Square Scarf tired to the bag and a pair of Comme des Garcons sneakers.
Both Erana and Sheeren came for fitting in our Wellington store before the event. I loved their energy and how excited they were to try Zambesi.
The show concluded and guests and Dress For Success clients mingled and shared stories. Both Erana and Sheeren came up to me and said how honoured they were to wear Zambesi. I definitely left on a high.
Thank you Dame Patsy Reddy for hosting such an incredible event!
