Zambesi has opened its new Zambesi Store at Commercial Bay today, Thursday 20 November, moving into a newly designed space in the heart of Tāmaki Makaurau.
The new store marks a considered step forward for the brand. Located on the ground floor of the precinct, the 105 square-metre space has been designed by Zambesi, led by Marissa Findlay in collaboration with Dada Studios. The concept is anchored in the idea of ‘past meets future’ and is a reflection of the brand’s ability to evolve while staying connected to its foundations.
Elements from Zambesi’s earlier stores have been reintroduced and reworked: familiar materials and structural details sit alongside new finishes and updated silhouettes within the space. Together, they create a store that feels both grounded and forward
- looking with a clear expression of the brand’s continuity, confidence, and design perspective.
“Bringing elements from our earlier stores designed by Neville Findlay into this new space felt important. We refined what still felt true to the brand and introduced new details that reflect where we’re heading. The space is pared back, modern, and connected to the brand’s past without replicating it. The balance between past and future is very much at the core of the design,” says Zambesi Brand Manager, Marissa Findlay.

The store brings together the full world of Zambesi, including womenswear, menswear, accessories, and New Zealand-made exclusives, all designed and produced in-house at the brand’s Auckland workroom. The space also features a curated list of designers who align with Zambesi’s focus on craft, culture, and longevity: Acne Studios, Rick Owens, Maison Margiela, Entire Studios, Costume National Scents, Serge Thoraval, and New Zealand label NOM*d.
