ZAMBESI TRAVEL DIARIES EDITION #1

QUEENSTOWN TO WANAKA TO QUEENSTOWN

Welcome to the first edition of the ZAMBESI Travel Diaries!

Zambesi recently traveled to Wanaka and Queenstown as part of 'Fashion For a Cure', a fashion show charity event produced by Breast Cancer Cure. ZAMBESI have always been a part of this important fundraising effort for cancer research and we are very excited to be part of the new event location in Wanaka.

We thought we would document our road trip by means of a travel diary to share with our ZAMFAM! We were super lucky to have the 2019 Maserati Levante to get us from A to B, which made our travels all the more luxurious!

Miss Provost wears the Harmony trench, Ballet skirt, Toile top and Chelsea boot.

Route:

28th November - Queenstown to Wanaka via the Kawerau Gorge.

29th November - Wanaka to Queenstown via Crown Range.

Queenstown: Coffee at ‘Yonder’

After a quick coffee at Yonder, we hit the road en route to 'Fashion for a Cure' at the Corbridge Woolshed in Wanaka.

First stop: AJ Hackett Bungy, Kawarau Gorge. Miss Provost jumps the queue…

Miss Provost wears: Ballet skirt, Toile top, mens The Independent trench, Womens Belt, Chelsea boot, Eyeline sunglasses.

Even if you’re not into thrill-seeking, this gorgeous gorge is definitely worth a pit-stop for the amazing bridge and views.

WANAKA: We arrive in Wanaka just in time for lunch - Food Truck stop! Hi Burrito Craft!

Burrito Craft is a permanent custom built food trailer located on Brownston St in Wanaka, serving up burritos, tacos & gluten free salads! They also have kids menu. You can also find a selection of Jarrito sodas to wet the whistle.

Brownston Food Truck stop is a MUST DO anytime of day, you'll also find trucks for dumplings, pizza and healthy whole foods.

Miss Provost wears Trail jacket in black denim, Walk Short, and Chelsea boot.

Cardrona Distillery

We highly recommend taking the tour through this 100% family owned distillery, only 15 min from Wanaka in the Cardona Valley. The distillery is a boutique maker of Scottish-style whiskey and other single malt spirits such as vodka, gin & orange liqueur. We learnt about the entire spirit making process from grain to glass. All of Cardrona's spirits are made from scratch on-site. If you don't have time for the 75min tour, make sure you stop by for one of their delicious cocktails!

Gentle Annie, one of the Distillery's two copper still’s which were traditionally made by Forsyths in Scotland.

The Crown Range

Eichardt's

We are back in Queenstown for Fashion for a Cure, after an incredible drive in the Maserati Levante through the Crown Range. It’s raining but we don’t care, the Maserati handles beautifully on these wet roads and the stormy clouds only add to the drama of the mountains.

Feeling rather exhausted after our adventures yesterday and the show last night, we are more than excited to pull up to our next stop,Eichardt’s Private Hotel.

Eichardt’s is located in the heart of Queenstown, at its doorstep the beautiful Wakatipu lakefront. It’s the perfect location for us, not only because it’s right next door to the Fashion For a Cure venue, (The Grille lakefront restaurant – which the hotelier also owns and manages), it’s only 60m from Angel Divine our ZAMBESI Queenstown stockist. Everything you need is close by, dining, cafes, amenities, and adventure! It's the ultimate destination for those who want to escape but still explore.

The first thing to stand out is the excellent personal service. From the moment we arrive we are warmly welcomed by staff. Little touches like the ice tea at reception make checking in that much sweeter (the ice tea, by the way, is delicious and the flavour changes daily!).

Eichardt's deluxe mini bar is beautifully presented, & includes jars of cookies, antipodes water, an exquisite selection of teas, sodas and juices, chocolate, & our fav, Proper Crisps! Everything in the mini bar, with the exception of alcohol, is complimentary.

Opening the door to our Eichardt’s Lakefront Suite has us feeling, quite frankly, like excited children on Christmas morning. The view of the lake is breathtaking! We are in love with how spacious the room is, and the breakfast – which can be had from the comfort of the plush Frette linen or from the famous Eichardt’s Bar – has the most amazing a la carte selection of local fruits, house cured meats and happy eggs courtesy of the clever executive chef Will Eaglesfield (who even hand-kilned the plates the deliciousness is served on).

A cocktail & a bite to eat at Eichardt's Bar before the show.

It’s beautifully lush and luxurious, and at this point I’m wondering if I’m ever going to see the rest of Queenstown because we simply do not want to ever leave this new palace! Check out our instagram feed to see more photos of our wonderful stay.

All aboard for a cruise around lake Wakatipu on Eichardt's premium nautical offering, the 24-metre Falcon 80 S 'Pacific Jemm'.

We hope you enjoyed the Not ever leaving.
